Governance, Risk, and Compliance

Jamie Hari is the founder at Derisk, a Canadian information security software company. Previously, he served as the Director of Cybersecurity & Cloud at Zayo (acquired Allstream in 2016). He has 15 years' experience in enterprise technology and information security at leading software, telecommunications, and security organizations including BlueCat, Scalar Decisions, OpenText, Sun Life Financial, and Rogers Communications.

Outside of work, Jamie is a renowned comic book expert and archivist. He has been featured in the New York Times, Businessweek Magazine, and the Toronto Star and has been invited to speak at Comic Con in San Diego, New York, and Chicago.

Cybersecurity & Privacy Institute

Lewis is a 20-year veteran of software and international management and currently the Managing Director of the Cybersecurity & Privacy Institute at the University of Waterloo. Previously, he founded TEDxTucson and was a member of the TED Global Sustainability Project Leadership from 2010 to 2015. 

Leading large-scale change management initiatives throughout North America, Lewis  is also a seasoned public speaker and presenter, and has also created businesses in Toronto and Tucson.

Research & Development

Dinah Davis is Vice President of Research and Development at Arctic Wolf Networks, where her team builds the industry’s most fierce SOC-as-a-Service. Dinah has over 20 years of cybersecurity experience including a master’s degree in cryptography from the University of Waterloo, and time spent at Communications Security Establishment of Canada, BlackBerry, TrustWave, and D2L.

Dinah is a big believer in helping connect people to help each other to build a better community. For the last two years, she has been running the KW Cybersecurity Meetup. She is also the founder of Code Like a Girl, a publication she ran for 3 years, whose goal is to change society's perception of how women are viewed in technology.

Information Security Manager

John is a man of many talents, blessed with many friends. With over 20 years of IT experience, ranging from development to leadership, John has spent the last 7 years focused specifically on information security. All of this while working in Waterloo Region, John is as local as you can get.


Recently, John has managed to find some time to teach computer security at Conestoga College, all in hopes of shaping the future of our industry by laying down the foundation early in the minds of our youth.

Quick with his wit, happiest when sharing his experiences, and definitely understanding his own limits, John is one personality you definitely want to meet.

Office Manager

Chances are that if you’re part of the startup scene in Waterloo Region, you know Pam.  From her work at Communitech to her current role as Office Manager for Auvik, Pam has connections all throughout the region.  Definitely the backbone for CyberCity,


Pam always has a smile and will always get the job done.  From organizing events, conferences, company lunches, and pretty much anything else under the sun, Pam is a machine.  With over 7 years of involvement within the startup community in Waterloo Region, Pam is definitely someone to connect with.

Always sporting a smile and a beacon of positivity, Pam uses her experience and connections to ensure that whatever the task, it will be done quickly, effectively, and professionally.
